In our Globalized image saturated society, visual materials have been dispassionately dispersed to the public by the media. The result is an unstoppable flow of imagery devoid of any humanity.
Through my work I try to make sense of or deconstruct the visual narratives we are surrounded by and reinvest them with meaning and significance. I take images out of their original context and through methods of cut and paste and reframing I try to strip the image of its original 'meaning' , which i never trust, and invest it with a new one, through isolation, forced juxtaposition and repetition.
This process allows me to work on and address a wide variety of topics and issues.
I want my paintings to incite the observer to question existing forms of representation in our culture, and to question my narratives and intent, as all combinations of images have multiple meanings and stories depending on the viewer.
I am an obsessive collector of images, I steal images and text from everywhere; the Internet, music, books, magazines, snapshots, television, art history etc.
It is these images that form the basis of my narratives.
