After studying Shoe Design (Fashion & Textiles) at Leicester Polytechnic,  I moved to London and opened a studio in Fulham, making accessories and hand printed garments, using leather detail as my trademark.

I set up a studio collective called 'The Camden Set' with five other designers. Our shops were in Kensington Market and Hyper Hyper; showing at London Fashion week and Clothes Show Live. This design career culminated in the " Street style" Exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum where I donated my sample collection to demonstrate contemporary street fashion. I then commenced an art teaching career.

Twenty years after taking the degree I returned to shoes as a theme for my paintings. Printed text and illustrations from childhood support my interest in creating memory boxes which reflect domestic scenes of home and family; often relating to the 'Make and mend' issues which were strongly observed in my own background.

Resourcing the vintage fabrics and ephemera such as old maps is very much part of my progress. I rummage and quest perpetually, especially when  travelling around England. The family button box with the silky slither of pearl and plastic in the familiar decorated tin box is an obvious influence.

I am particularly interested in the texture and surface properties of fabric combined with paint. Fragments of fabric and paper are worked into the painted texture of the panel. The continuous curves of a shoe outline create a closed vessel to unite the completed image. Button detail, and finally hand blocked text gives a direction to each piece.

Starting to sell my work at school fetes, led on to the South East Open Studio Sheme. I now regularly exhibit my work at contemporary art fairs in London, and have a permanent collection at Skylark, Gabrial's Wharf.

After magazine features in the Times and Eve much of my work is created on a commission basis.
