These Cat paintings also deal with the idea of potential, becoming animal. This is a domestic creature but it retains the possibility to become a wild animal.

Two main ideas permeate this set of paintings one is Schroedinger's cat in a box experiments and the other in the use of Francis Bacon's constructed geometric devices to create the illusion of space in the canvas. Schroedinger's hypothetical paradox maintains that a cat is a creature that can be both dead and alive at the same time, it has the potential to inhabit both this universe and a parrallel one. The canvas is both flat and represents space which is described by the box/cage. An artificial other space is evoked as in the thought experiment of a multi universe that can only be contemplated not physically experienced.

Olivia O`Hare

My Great Uncle was a painter and I saw him work as a child, this is my first memory of the smell of Oil Paint which I love to this day. He, Reginald Turvey inspired me to paint, while painters like Manet, Bacon and Doig give the incentive to keep painting.

I studied at The University of KwaZulu Natal, Goldsmiths, London and St. Martin's College, London.
