The artists in our library are some of the most exciting, challenging, inspired and though-provoking contemporary artists working in the UK today. Their work is in high demand, not only in our library, but in galleries all over the world. Here is a snippet of what our artists are up to at the moment:
Brighton based Robin Clare has a few goings on over the coming weeks. As part of the 2009 Artists Open Houses festival she will be taking part in one exhibition being held at The Regency Town House in Hove beginning this Saturday 25/4/2009 until 24/5/2009. Alongside this, she's being featured in another exhibition at The Claremont Hotel, Hove from Sunday 26/4/2009 until 24/5/2009. If you fancy a trip to the seaside to take in the April sunshine, then why not combine it with a trip to see Robin's work?
Congratulations to Leila Bibizadeh who after winning her first round of the Saatchi Showdown competition is through to the final showdown. Her work Lost is now in the running to win her a cash prize and be featured in the Saatchi Gallery, so good luck Leila!
Jane Bolden has an exhibition opening this Friday 24/4/2009 until 30/4/2009 at the Architects Gallery in Teddington, Twickenham. It's a group exhibition that features Jane amongst several other artists and is looking to be very interesting, whilst incorporating a number of events for children and life drawing to engage the local community. Jane is featuring in another large group exhibition beginning 4/6/2009 at the APT Gallery in Deptford. It's an exciting project in which Jane's work was chosen by Turner Prize winning artist Mark Wallinger!
Karl Bielik has an exhibition opening in Budapest today, his work being shown is influenced by his Hungarian roots and is all made surrounding his car journey from London back to Budapest and the mixture of cultures.
The Salone Satellite with Hidden Art is a Milan based expose focussing on furniture and textiles, this year Kaniez Abdi will feature as part of the fair, so if you're over in Milan this weekend then the exhibition runs from 22nd-27th April.
Berlin is the setting for Margaret Atkinson's latest exhibition, it opens tomorrow 24/4/09 at the Turn-Berlin Gallery culminating in a finishing party on Wednesday 13/5/09. Margaret also currently has some work showing a bit closer to home, the Wine Theatre is showing a range of her works in the restaurant and bar, so head down to Union Street SE1 if you'd like to see more of Margaret's work.
Finally, Alice White has been the first of our artists to take part in our new Artist Interview Video Blog project. We'll be updating this project with more videos regularly, so keep your eyes peeled to find out more about artists and have a peek in their studios.
